MONDAY TO FRIDAY 9 AM - 6 PM
1961 Chevrolet Corvette 283 V8 Only 56,890 Original Miles
1961 Chevy Corvette Convertible for purchase. It’s quite provoking to think about the timing of the birth of the Corvette. Every American produced vehicle was getting bigger throughout the mid-50’s with tons of heavy sheet metal, chrome, and most often large fins. The idea that GM went the other way with their small, fiberglass concept car at the 1953 Autorama created a huge buzz. The rush to production meant that all production in 1953 was hand made in the last months of the year in an old truck factory in Flint while the production facility in St Louis was being prepared. There was a redesign for the 1961 & 1962 model years that would be the last couple years of the first generation. These cars were the last to feature a two-toned paint design, and they were the first to have the rear “boat-tail” design that would carry over to the Stingrays starting in 1963. The first generation cars have a lot of style, history, and with low production numbers (compared to later generations) these Corvettes are very rare to find.
This 1961 Corvette is offered for sale for the first time since 1988 when it went through a full frame-off restoration to mostly stock showroom condition. This C1 has tremendous curb appeal in Roman Red & White paint with black interior. This car is powered by a period correct 283ci V8 engine paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. It features an electronic ignition, an aftermarket hood, original radio, soft white convertible top, dual exhaust, and more. This car is in excellent condition always stored inside. Close inspection to the interior, chrome, wheels, paint, and glass reveals the excellent condition of this 1st generation beauty that is awesome to have as a summer cruiser and to show
